YoY Growth Percentage Calculator User Guide
This calculator is a powerful and easy-to-use online tool that helps you quickly calculate the year-over-year growth rate of any indicator. Simply enter the values from the current period and the same period last year to get the growth rate instantly.
Formula:
YoY Growth Rate = (Current Value - Previous Year Value) ÷ Previous Year Value × 100%
Example:
- If last year's revenue was $10,000 and this year's revenue is $12,500
- YoY Growth = (12,500 - 10,000) ÷ 10,000 × 100% = +25%
- This means revenue grew by 25% compared to the same period last year
Important Notes:
- ✓ Positive value (+) indicates growth / increase
- ✓ Negative value (-) indicates decline / decrease
- ✓ Zero (0) indicates no change
- ✓ The "current period" can be day, week, month, or quarter
- ✓ The "previous year period" refers to the same day/week/month last year
YoY vs MoM:
- YoY (Year-over-Year): Compares to the same period last year, eliminates seasonal effects
- MoM (Month-over-Month): Compares to the previous month, shows short-term trends
- YoY is generally better for understanding long-term business growth trends
