Channel Steel Weight Calculator User Guide
Channel steel (also known as C-channel or U-channel) features excellent bending resistance, easy installation, and simple connection. Widely used in equipment supports, operating platforms, building structures, cable tray supports, and shelf frames.
Supported Channel Steel Types
- ✅ Standard Series (GB/T 706-2016):
- Standard Channel: Models like [8], [10], [12], [16a], [20b]
- Light Channel: Thinner web, lighter weight, marked with "Q" or "L"
- ✅ Material: Q235B, Q355B Carbon Steel (density 7.85 g/cm³)
- ✅ Common Models: From [5] to [40], covering common engineering specifications
Channel Steel Weight Formula
Weight (kg) = Section Area (cm²) × Length (m) × 0.785
Where:
- Section Area = h×t1 + (b-t1)×t2
- 0.785 is the simplified density coefficient (7.85 g/cm³ ÷ 1000)
